We're in Haiti!

It's hard to describe the feeling of seeing Haiti as we were coming in for landing this morning. This place that seemed so far and distant and unreal was suddenly in our faces, and it was totally real! Trey Amos' homeland! We were exhausted from not sleeping hardly at all the night before, but we were wide awake as soon as that plane touched down.

Here I am waiting to get through immigration. We then had to collect our baggage, which is taken off the carousel if it goes around once. So there were PILES of luggage everywhere and you had to go look through everything to try and find yours! I said to Brady, "Well, this isn't very efficient, is it?" and some guy overheard me and said, "but it sure is fun!"

An airport employee hoping for a big tip whisked us through customs just by flashing his badge, and then poor Cherie, GLA's driver was so upset because he had been waiting for us outside and now this other guy was helping us. He made me repeat to him that his name was Cherie and that I believed in him. "Yeah, it's ok, Cherie...our bad...we tried to refuse that guy helping us, but he was pretty pushy. Your name is Cherie...I BELIEVE IN YOU!" Anyways, they both got decent tips.

Molly and Joyce picked us up and all I'll say about that is that Molly is an AMAZING driver. There are no lanes here; no traffic lights; no speed limits; essentially no rules of the road whatsoever. It was quite an adventure dodging people, cars, trucks, busses, tap taps, chickens, dogs, fires, garbage, etc, etc, etc.

And finally we arrived at GLA...

...and met our precious baby boy Trey Amos!

He is just so amazing! Finally meeting him was just indescribable! He probably thought, "Who are these two crazies????" But we just love him so much. He is perfect in every way! We are so blessed to have him as our son.

We also received some good news...Trey Amos was born in the province of Jeremie, which means his file is in a different Parquet/Courts system than the Port-au-Prince one! This may mean the process moves a lot faster for us! Praise the Lord...we need to get this little guy home as soon as possible!
