More Good News

I mentioned a few months ago that our other adoption agency, Imagine Adoption, had gone bankrupt due to fraud and theft by its executive director. We had had about twelve thousand dollars held "in trust" by Imagine Adoption hoping to complete another adoption after Trey came home. None of that money was actually held "in trust," however, and about 500 Canadian families hoping to adopt from Ethiopia, Zambia, Ecuador, and Ghana were left in the lurch.

Anyways after months of media attention, meetings, discussions, plans, etc, etc, etc, a committee put together a proposal for restructuring the agency. At least 200 families had to respond by contributing the first installment of more money needed by November 30 in order to see if there were enough families to revive the agency.

We just received word that 246 families have re-signed their agreements and of course we are one of them! (Mind you, we didn't have much choice...either kiss away twelve thousand dollars or throw in a little more and see if we can actually complete an adoption!)

This is good news. Hopefully Trey Amos will be able to have a little brother or sister from Ethiopia someday.

The Best News Yet!!!

I was all bummed out this morning because today marks our SIX MONTH anniversary of being in IBESR....

But, I just got an email this afternoon from GLA! WE ARE OUT!!!!! Now our dossier is being prepared for Parquet. The estimated timeline for Parquet is 3-8 months, so hopefully it is a shorter stay than the one in IBESR. I called Brady at work and told him the good news, and everyone in my office is jumping up and down for joy! We are so elated!

Daaaa!

This is one of the videos my mom and dad took when they were in Haiti. We watch them all on a regular basis because to put it bluntly THIS WAIT SUCKS! It helps to watch Trey Amos in action and he just makes us laugh.

Anyways, since I don't have any NEWS to post (such as getting out of IBESR) I decided to post a video instead. Hopefully it works. He's such a cute little munchkin.

October Update

October greetings, Brady and Heidi!

We have continued to be busy here in Haiti with many of our families coming and going! We have had 13 more families come to appear before the judge, as well as 9 families come to take their children home to join their “forever families.” We praise God for the completion of these adoptions, and we look forward to seeing many more children going home before the end of the year!

It has been nice to have had all of our foreign staff in Haiti for most of the month of October. Laurie is recovering well from her Hepatitis and is back to work in the office. Stephanie has also returned from visiting friends and family back home and is also back at work. John and Dixie were here in Haiti for most of the month, but they left earlier this week. They will be travelling in the US and Canada, doing fundraising for GLA. Please remember them in your prayers as they travel and also that they would be successful in raising the money we need to run the orphanage. We have had several major expenses recently, including generators and vehicles breaking down and needing repaired and replaced. We trust that God will be faithful, as always, to provide for our needs and for those of the children in our care.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:19

Amos is continuing to grow and develop. He is a great crawler, making his way to wherever he wants to go. Amos has also been working on walking, and he can do so by holding onto the fingers of his volunteer.

Amos loves looking at your pictures in the album you sent for him. His volunteer points out “Mommy” and “Daddy” for Amos. He also especially likes the picture of Sam. When Amos is looking at your pictures, he has started to say “da-da-da.” He also loves listening to your voices and, if he is sad, they cheer him up.

Weight: 18 lbs 15 oz
Height: 70.5 cm/27.25 inches
Adoption status: IBESR

Oh this little boy is so precious...even if he's not smiling for his monthly photo shoot!
