Day Two in Haiti

Well, after sleeping a good twelve hours, we woke up, grabbed some breakfast and headed up to the balcony with our boy!

We also found a couple of his special little friends. Here he is with Baby AJ, who is just the smiley-ist, most content sweetie on the earth!

And Baby SC is Mr. On-the-Go! He spent some good time in the jolly jumper and playing with all sorts of toys on the balcony. We put on one of SC's outfits from his box and it was the same outfit Trey Amos was wearing (although Trey's was an old worn-out one from the orphanage stock-pile). Anyways, they looked pretty darn cute dressed identically!

After lunch, when Trey was down for his nap, Brady and I unloaded our huge duffel bag full of donations from people in Edmonton and Abbotsford...so thanks to everyone who donated! There was lots of stuff the orphanage needed and they were happy to receive everything.

We then went to our room for some much-needed showers...after all, it had been about three days and we certainly weren't looking or smelling our best, as you can tell!

While back in our room, Brady spotted THIS on our curtain. It had us both whimpering like little children as we cleverly concocted a plan to dispose of this giant disgusting creature! As you will see, this clever plan involved a cup...oh, and a book "Raising Adopted Children." While Brady tried to scoop the beast with the cup, I tried to whack it off the curtain with the book! We were both braced to bolt if the dang thing scurried or scuttled, or somehow had the ability to fly!

Luckily, we succeeded! Estimates put the creature at about a quarter of a pound...although some of that may be cup weight! The creature was then released into the wild, in order that it might find its way back someday to terrorize more unsuspecting guests.

This is Amanda and Missy...the two volunteers here at GLA. Usually there are up to eight volunteers working here at a time, but because it is so near Christmas, the volunteer program is quite understaffed. The girls are from Manitoba and have been very helpful to us while we've been here. We're so thankful for volunteers like Amanda and Missy, who just love all these little kiddos so much and spend as much time as possible with them!

And finally (after Mommy checked about every five minutes for 45 minutes) Mr. Amos woke up from his nap.

He was really showing off...and found it quite hilarious to hold this cup in his mouth without using his hands (no...this is not THE cup that was used in THE plan to catch THE creature).

Daddy was lucky enough to score one kiss...but Mommy was left hangin'.

Oh, but the new doggie from Build-a-Bear also got a wet one. Mommy was sorely disappointed.

But after supper she did get nice long cuddles and snuggles and so did Daddy.

And then Trey Amos was put fast asleep in his little bed.
