Adoption Agency Bankrupt

Before you panic...the bankruptcy of the Imagine Adoption Agency in Ontario does not affect our adoption of Trey Amos. We are doing this adoption independently, dealing with God's Littlest Angels, without the use of a "middle man" agency. We do have our local agency, Christian Adoption Services, who did our homestudy, etc, but they are not directly involved in our Haiti adoption process.

That said...we did have about 12, 000 dollars "in trust" with Imagine Adoption and had started paperwork for a second adoption which was going to be from Zambia. Around Christmas time Zambia closed, so we pulled our paperwork out and were in the process of transferring our paperwork to either Ghana or Ethiopia. Then we received our proposal from Haiti (our little man, Trey), and our Imagine adoption went on hold.

But now...they are bankrupt, and we have no idea if we will ever see that 12, 000 dollars again. Kind of a bummer to say the least. However, there are MANY Canadian families who were in the middle of adoptions! Not only did they lose thousands of dollars, they may have lost their hope for a child! It's really tragic. So yeah, it's been a heck of a week. We're in contact with a lot of Imagine Adoption families and are also in contact with the firm handling the bankruptcy. We're not sure how this is going to all resolve, but hopefully the families with waiting children will be able to bring their kids home, and hopefully we get our money back eventually!

On a happier note, here's a pic of little Trey at about five months, looking all patriotic with the Haitian flag.

Aww, I just can't wait till that hair grows back!
